Some jobs are fairly simple and require that you only be good at one thing, while others demand employees display an almost impossibly wide range of skills.
Case in point, check out this job description courtesy of Heatherwick Studio, a Design and Architecture firm based in Camden, North London.
The studio’s head honcho, Thomas Heatherwick, 50, is looking for a Personal Assistant, but not just any PA.
One whose expected workload includes but is not limited to “vehicle maintenance, going to the tailor, and making a fancy-dress costume.”
The job ad initially popped up on Dezeen Jobs, a job site which primarily advertises vacancies in the architecture and design industry.
The listing has since been taken down but still remains online via Google.
Thomas’s prospective PA has to maintain good relationships with his staff (both the company kind and the household kind), his children, and his extended family.
Other tasks the successful applicant is expected to take on include managing the housekeeper and the nanny, preparing “daily travel packs and planning,” and remembering birthdays and buying gifts.

“To manage Thomas Heatherwick’s personal life alongside studio related tasks, you need to be calm, diligent, and fast thinking – as well as a great multi-tasker with a natural ability to prioritise,” the description reads.
“This role also provides support to Thomas Heatherwick’s EA and the wider studio when required.”
Further key responsibilities of the role include “managing Thomas’s personal appointments and weekends,” organising his holidays, and “managing the completion of Thomas’ house,” i.e. builders and contractors.
The job description continues: “This role needs to develop and maintain positive and professional relationships across the whole studio. Discretion and confidentiality are particularly important in this role.”
People have been joking around about the advert on Twitter, with one user writing: “Seems they forgot ‘pack and check Thomas has his lunchbox’ and ‘ensure Thomas has been to the toilet’.”
Another joked: “‘Enjoys the company of children’, no kidding.”
The salary for the job is not listed, but according to Google similar listings tend to pay anywhere from £22,000-£27,000 a year.
