Herts contractor wins block on £500m London scheme

HG Construction has won a residential building at Argent Related’s £500m Tottenham Hale regeneration scheme.

The contractor will deliver the North Island building – a block containing 136 new homes, including 80 shared ownership and 56 market sale with 3,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor. It is part of Argent Related’s wider Tottenham Hale scheme, which will see a new neighbourhood including more than 1,000 new homes created.

Construction has now started on the North Island building, which has been designed by architects Alford Hall Monaghan Morris.

Last year Galliford Try landed two buildings on the scheme totalling 281 homes, worth £85m, while United Living won 131 council-owned homes on the project.

HG Construction is a Hertfordshire-headquartered main contractor, whose £150.8m turnover made them the 96th largest firm in the UK in 2020, as shown in the 2020 CN100.

Argent Related head of residential Tom Goodall said: “This is a statement of confidence in the London housing market and Argent Related’s ability to deliver at pace the high-quality homes we need to help young people and families get on the housing ladder in this vibrant and growing part of North London.”

HG Construction chief executive Christopher Benham said: “North Island is a key building block in the wider regeneration of Tottenham Hale, a project which will kickstart the local economy and transform the area into a thriving new destination for Londoners.”

Argent Related is a joint venture of UK developer Argent and US firm Related Companies.
