Oliver Skipp (Norwich City)

Social media was full of praise for Oliver Skipp after his performance for Norwich in their 4-1 victory against Jack Clarke’s Stoke City.

In the end it was collision and a facial injury that ended his match with nine minutes remaining.

In The Pink Un’s player ratings after the game, Skipp was awarded an eight, with the caption: “Took a fearful whack in a near post aerial collision that eventually forced his exit. Farke indicating afterwards it was an eye injury than concussion. One superbly timed diving tackle to halt a Stoke counter in front of the dugouts. One raking crossfield ball for Max Aarons to tee up Teemu Pukki.”

Farke’s update on Skipp indicated that it should not keep him out of action.

“He got a finger tip in his eye,” said the Canaries boss. “It was pretty infected and red and he was struggling to see clearly. So as a precaution I didn’t want to take any further risk. I think he will be fine. It is not a major problem.”

Skipp has been an integral part of the Canaries’ team and the England U21 international has made 29 consecutive starts in the Championship for the East Anglian side.

Jack Clarke (Stoke City)

Up against Skipp, Clarke couldn’t continue his bright start to life at Stoke despite making another start, with his Spurs’ team-mate dispossessing him a couple of times.

The 20-year-old winger is getting the minutes he needs at Stoke after last season’s failed loans.

However, he only managed the first half against the Canaries before being replaced at the break with the visitors leading 2-0.

The Stoke Sentinel gave Clark a six in their player ratings, saying: “Neat cross for Fletcher disallowed goal but nudged off ball a bit too easily at times.”

Paulo Gazzaniga (Elche)

The Argentine was on the bench again for Elche as his new side lost 3-1 at Celta Viga in La Liga.

The 29-year-old Gazzaniga had to watch on for his second match at the club as Edgar Badia retained his spot in goal.

Juan Foyth (Villarreal)

Foyth once again showed his versatility with 88 minutes in a defensive midfield role for Villarreal.

Unai Emery’s side lost 2-1 at home to Real Betis in La Liga, but the 23-year-old Argentine is getting more and more minutes in the Spanish top flight as he fills the gaps left by injured team-mates.

Foyth’s versatility could ensure he gets more minutes under his belt, having already played at centre-back, in midfield and right-back for Emery’s team.

Villarreal have an option to purchase Foyth at the end of his loan in Spain and he has now made 16 appearances for his loan club, with eight in La Liga.

Ryan Sessegnon (Hoffenheim)

Although Ryan Sessegnon missed this weekend’s 2-2 draw at Borussia Dortmund, he has spoke about his progress on loan and his upcoming return from a thigh injury that has seen him miss Hoffenheim’s last seven matches.

“I’m learning more about myself as a person and as a player,” he told Hoffenheim’s social media channels.

“It’s been a great opportunity. In one word, it’s been eventful, because of course I was playing games regularly and I think in most games I was playing well as well, with a few games not so well.

“I think I was more consistently playing well though and then of course the injury happened and I’ve missed six games now.”

On that thigh injury, Sessegnon added: “I’m progressing very well and I think the next time you guys should see me on the pitch will be maybe next week, hopefully in the Europa League.”

Troy Parrott battles with Kenneth Dougall during the Sky Bet League One match between Ipswich Town and Blackpool at Portman Road

Troy Parrott (Ipswich)

Troy Parrott, who turned 19 this month, has had two League One starts under his belt after returning from Millwall and heading out to Ipswich.

Parrott got 90 minutes in the 2-1 defeat at Peterborough United on Tuesday night and with no weekend match for the Tractor Boys. the young Irishman will be hoping to start again in Tuesday evening’s home game against Northampton Town.

The East Anglian Daily Times gave Parrott a six in their player ratings after the Peterborough defeat, explaining: “The Tottenham loanee appeared to enjoy being paired with James Norwood in attack, charging around with his fellow front-man to put the pressure on the Posh backline. He worked hard throughout but didn’t have a sight at goal before the end when his shot was pushed away well by Christy Pym on the line.”

Cameron Carter-Vickers (Bournemouth)

Carter-Vickers made it back to back starts for the Cherries as he helped keep a clean sheet at Nottingham Forest.

Bournemouth interim boss and former Spurs defender Jonathan Woodgate has turned to the 23-year-old USA international in recent matches.

There had been talk in the local press on the south coast of the Cherries looking to make his loan move permanent but all eyes will now be on the managerial situation to see how much game time he gets in the remainder of the season.

Harvey White (Portsmouth)

White got a fifth appearance under his belt from the bench with a couple of minutes in the 2-0 win against Swindon Town.

The 20-year-old is yet to start in League One but Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett, who is out of action for two weeks to recover from surgery, indicated when he joined that White, who he knows well from his time working in Tottenham’s academy, will get plenty of game time in the months ahead.

Malachi Fagan-Walcott (Dundee)

The 18-year-old centre-back was unable to get any game time again at the weekend as the inclement weather saw off Dundee’s trip to Dunfermline.

That meant the teenager has seen two weekend’s worth of football postponed after Dundee’s waterlogged Dens Park pitch meant their Championship match against Inverness Caldedonian Thistle was postponed the previous week.

Fagan-Walcott headed out on loan to the Scottish Championship after recovering from his knee injury, and had made his debut in the 3-1 defeat to Raith Rovers.

The young defender has already made his debut for Tottenham in the Champions League last season, coming on late in the defeat at RB Leipzig.

Kazaiah Sterling (Greenock Morton)

Also up in Scotland in the Championship is striker Kazaiah Sterling, who also saw his match fall victim to the weather.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s pitch was frozen meaning no game for the young Spurs striker.

The 22-year-old had made his debut last week for Greenock Morton after returning from his loan spell at Southend, getting 26 minutes from the bench as Morton lost 1-0 to Raith Rovers on Saturday.

His new manager Anton McElhone spent a decade at Spurs between 2007 and 2017 as a youth fitness coach.

Sterling, who has played in the Champions League and FA Cup for Tottenham, told the Morton website: “The move came about through Anton McElhone the gaffer and it went from there basically. I worked with him there in my younger years at Spurs. I hope to bring goals and attacking threat.

“I like to play on the shoulder and get behind defences, I would say that’s my speciality. This is the furthest I have gone up north. Sunderland was quiet a big change for me but this is a totally different experience.

“The Champions League was an amazing experience. It was unreal, the fans, the atmosphere. I can play through the middle but I can also play on either side. Hopefully the Morton fans see loads of goals and entertainment.”

TJ Eyoma (Lincoln City)

It was a rare appearance from the bench at the weekend for Eyoma, who has been a regular starter at Lincoln during his successful loan spell.

He came on for the final four minutes of the 2-2 draw at home against Accrington Stanley, having played for more than an hour in the midweek 0-0 draw at Hull City.

The 21-year-old has made 36 appearances for Lincoln this season after making his Tottenham debut in the FA Cup a couple of seasons ago under Mauricio Pochettino.

Jack Roles (Stevenage)

Roles made his Stevenage debut at the weekend, coming off the bench for the final four minutes of the 1-0 defeat at Bolton.

Looking to play regular football again after an unsuccessful loan at Burton Albion, the 21-year-old will be hoping for minutes aplenty at The Lamex Stadium in the months ahead.

Jubril Okedina (Cambridge United)

Okedina got back to back starts in the 4-1 defeat at Salford City in midweek and then Cambridge’s 0-0 draw at home against Southend United.

The 20-year-old centre-back has become a regular in the backline for United, starting their past four matches..

“His attitude, defensive qualities and athleticism make him a good addition,” said Cambridge head coach Mark Bonner when the full-back signed last month.

“This will be a good experience for Jubril as it’s his first senior loan and he offers us good competition and cover in the defensive unit.”

Shilow Tracey (Cambridge United)

Tracey made the switch to join Okedina at Cambridge in order to get more game time at a level below where he was with Shrewsbury.

The 22-year-old made his first start in the midweek loss at Salford, getting 64 minutes into the match before being taken off.

He then came off the bench for 24 minutes into the draw with Southend.
