London crime: Teen charged with murdering Croydon boy, 17, on New Year’s Eve 3 years ago named

A teenager has been charged with murdering a 17-year-old boy from Croydon over three years ago on New Year’s Eve.

Kyall Parnell, from Thornton Heath, was fatally stabbed in the heart in Tulse Hill, Lambeth on December 31, 2017. He was standing on the central reservation in Norwood Road, at the junction with Station Rise.

Met Police officers and paramedics from London’s Air Ambulance team were called at 10.43pm. They attended, but Kyall was pronounced dead at 11.38pm.

Over three years later on Monday, February 8, detectives arrested a man and, on the same day, charged him with murder.

Denique Newell, 19, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged on the same day. He was 16-years-old at the time Kyall was killed.

Newell appeared at Magistrates’ Court, and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday, February 11.
