Boris Johnson lockdown announcement: Exact time the Prime Minister will address the nation tonight

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will hold a Downing Street press conference this evening after the UK reached a major milestone in the vaccine roll-out.

More than 15 million people have now been vaccinated, with the jab offered to everyone in the four most vulnerable groups.

The promising news came a day ahead of the Government’s target with hope that it could mean there is an end to lockdown in sight.

The Prime Minister is expected to provide an update on the next stage of the roll-out which will see more at-risk groups offered their first dose, as well as everyone over the age of 65.

The Government has set targets for all adults to be vaccinated by the summer, with hopes that once the strictest measures are eased they won’t be necessary again.

However, the promising news won’t mean restrictions can ease straightaway with Mr Johnson due to announce his ‘roadmap’ out of lockdown next week.

There could still be some news on what to expect during today’s announcement, with reports over the weekend that schools could reopen on March 8.

What time will the Prime Minister hold the press briefing?

It is expected to start at 5pm this evening (February 15) from 10 Downing Street.

It has not yet been confirmed who will be appearing alongside Mr Johnson for the press conference.
