Sebastien Haller at the double again, but West Ham fans shouldn’t be fooled, Tottenham flop proves that

Sebastien Haller continued his fine form for Ajax last night after making his £20 million move from West Ham to the Dutch giants last month.

The 26-year-old scored a goal and racked up an assist during Ajax’s 2-0 away win at Heracles.

Haller now has five goals and five assists to his name in nine appearances for Ajax (Transfermarkt).

Written off as a flop by some West Ham fans, the Ivory Coast international is now proving his worth in Holland.

Or is he?

West Ham fans shouldn’t be fooled by Sebastien Haller

The 26-year-old never established himself at the London Stadium. David Moyes clearly didn’t rate the 6ft 3in striker and chose to offload him in January.

Many Hammers fans are angry that Haller is tearing up the Eredivisie. But they shouldn’t be.

The Dutch league lacks any kind of strength in depth and the competition is non-existent.

Strikers are afforded incredible amounts of space compared to what they are in the Premier League.

Haller is clearly suited to the more pedestrian paced Eredivisie than he ever was to the Premier League.

West Ham fans need to remember that scoring goals in Holland is not a guaranteed sign of greatness.

Former Tottenham flop Vincent Janssen scored 27 goals in 34 league games for AZ Alkmaar before moving to north London in the summer of 2016 (Transfermarkt).

The 26-year-old was clearly not cut out for the Premier League and racked up just six goals in 42 games for Spurs before being shipped of to CF Monterrey (Transfermarkt).

We’re not suggesting that Sebastien Haller or Vincent Janssen are not talented strikers.

They were quite simply just not suited to the intense nature of Premier League football.

West Ham fans shouldn’t fret. Even if Haller scores 20-30 goals for Ajax every season.

He wasn’t the right fit for the Hammers. And that is all that matters.
