Latest Jet2 travel updates as airline extends summer 2021 Greek holiday flights to Zante and Crete

Jet2 has responded to a surge in demand for late summer getaways by adding a number of new flights to its popular travel destinations.

The airline has added more flights and holidays to Zante, Crete (Heraklion), Rhodes and Kefalonia for customers hoping to jet away for some sun later this year.

Almost 80 extra flights in October and November have been added.

34 new flights to Zante have been introduced, with extra flights from London Stansted, Birmingham, East Midlands, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle. A wider selection of hotels and resorts are now on sale in Zante “than ever before”, according to the airline.

Meanwhile, 20 new flights have been added for Rhodes, with extra flying from London Stansted, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle. As a result, Jet2 is extending the summer season in Rhodes to mid-November.

And for Crete (Heraklion), almost 20 new flights have been added, with extra flying from London Stansted, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle. The summer season in Heraklion is therefore being extended to November 9.

The summer season in Kefalonia has been extended to mid-October, with extra flying from Glasgow, Birmingham, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford and Manchester.

Currently, holidays are illegal due to the current nationwide lockdown in England, with only essential travel permitted.

The rollout of the vaccine, as well as the potential easing of restrictions over the next few months, could pave the way for trips abroad later this year.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “There continues to be enormous pent-up demand from British holidaymakers, who want nothing more than to get away to the sunshine and enjoy their well-deserved holidays.

“As always, we listen to what customers want and react accordingly, so that we can provide them with the holiday choices that they want. Extending the summer season to Greece means we are doing exactly that; giving customers more opportunity to get away and enjoy a much-needed holiday.

“As a result of the assurance that customers get from our award-winning flights and ATOL protected package holidays, we will be continuing to respond to the demand so that when travel restarts, we can take customers from our rainy islands to their favourite holiday hotspots.”
