Jessica Plummer, Gemma Collins, Stacey Solomon and Nigella Lawson share perfect last-minute Valentine’s Day ideas

There’s nothing worse than forgetting to make Valentine’s Day plans, then realising your significant other has gone the whole hog with presents, flowers and a slap-up meal.

It’s even more difficult to come up with romantic ideas in lockdown, when you might be a little bit sick of the sight of each other and dreaming of a restaurant meal followed by a glass of good wine in a nice pub.

Being stuck in our homes this Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to mean that romance is a write-off – in fact it might be even more important to celebrate your love for each other after a year that’s tested many relationships.

There’s less than 24 hours now to pull something out of the bag, but thankfully London’s favourite celebrities have been sharing some brilliant last minute Valentine’s ideas on their Instagram accounts.

From Nigella’s dreamy meals for two to a wacky game by Stacey Solomon, there’s something for every couple.

Jessica Plummer’s romantic brunch

Kick off Valentine’s Day with an indulgent pancake brunch inspired by Jessica Plummer.

The EastEnders actress shared her pre-Valentine’s pancake making on her Instagram story this morning (Saturday, February 13), which she described as a warm-up for the big day.

She uses a NutriBullet to blend her pancake batter – a genius, mess-free method.

Stacey Solomon’s wacky Valentine’s piñata

Stacey and Joe Swash make a gorgeous couple, and Stacey has revealed that this year they’ll be celebrating Valentine’s with… a pink piñata.

She posted the tutorial on her Instagram stories so her followers could make one too, and it seems pretty simple and very fun.

“It’s a bit makeshift but that makes me love it even more,” she wrote with a cry-laugh emoji.

First she uses empty paint pot lids she’s been using to paint her cupboards, and glues some cardboard around the edges.

Next she fills the makeshift box with pink sweets to match the Valentine’s theme.

She then tops the box with another paint pot lid and sprays it pink before covering it with tissue paper squares.

Stacey wanted to make her piñata look like a Love Heart sweet, so cut out a paper heart shape and letters to spell out ‘true love’.

Simple as that, the piñata was ready to go – and it looked so cute.

“Okay so it’s very shabby [cry-laugh emoji],” she wrote.

“The more I look at it the more I laugh. But it was fun to make and the boys will enjoy getting the sweets out on Sunday hopefully [cry-laugh emoji].”

Nigella Lawson’s ‘perfect dinner for two’

What would a Valentine’s Day ideas list be without a Nigella recipe?

The way to anyone’s heart is often through their stomach, and Nigella Lawson’s luxurious recipes are the perfect way to impress your partner with your culinary expertise.

On Instagram she’s shared her Recipe of the Day, Chicken with Red Grapes and Marsala, which she describes as “a perfect dinner for two.”

It’s a simple but impressive recipe, using only seven ingredients and “brimming with mellow fruitfulness, the muskiness of the Marsala and the scented woodsiness of the thyme.”

Nigella says it goes brilliantly with some bread to dip in the rich juices or some steamed new potatoes.
