Some of the UK’s biggest supermarkets have issued urgent recalls for food products.
Shoppers are urged not to eat any of the products on this list. Instead they should return them to the supermarket they bought them from for a full refund.
Risks causing the recalls vary, but some could be very serious, including unlabelled allergens and contamination with salmonella or listeria.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) shares details on what you should do if you have bought food that has been recalled for any reason, as well as detailed information about why the product is being pulled from the shelves.
Here are some of the food products recalled from supermarkets, the reasons for the recall and what to do if you’ve bought them.
Tesco
Tesco has recalled the Tesco Finest Taleggio 200g cheese because it contains Listeria monocytogenes.
According to the FSA, “symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.”
Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, “including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems,” the FSA writes.
If you have bought this product Tesco advises the following: “Do not eat the affected product. Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.
“If you’re currently self-isolating, please contact Tesco Customer Services to arrange a refund.”
