Anyone living or working in specific areas of West Norwood and Streatham should get a test
‘Surge testing’ is taking place in West Norwood and parts of Streatham after the South African COVID-19 variant was identified in Lambeth.
Anyone over the age of sixteen who lives or works in these areas should take a test as soon as possible, regardless of whether they have COVID-19 symptoms.
Officials will be knocking on doors with at home tests, focusing on parts of the SE27 and SW16 postcodes.
Residents without symptoms can also book slots at mobile testing sites in Leigham Court Road and Waylett Place car parks.
Those who do have COVID-19 symptoms (continuous cough, temperature, loss of smell or taste) should book a test in the usual way, via the NHS website or by calling 111.

Other areas of London where at least one case of the South African variant have been found include Pollard’s Hill, Tottenham Hale and West Ealing.
Around 170 cases have been identified across the country, around eighteen of which are not linked to recent travel.
