Tyler Byrne: First picture of railway worker killed by train near Surbiton station, south west London

his is the first picture of a railway worker who died after being hit by a train in south west London.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers were called to the line near the station at 11.39am after receiving reports of a casualty on the track.

Mr Byrne’s family have been informed of his death.

The BTP said its officers are working closely with colleagues at the Office of Rail and Road and the Rail Accident Investigation Branch to establish the full circumstances behind Mr Byrne’s death.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Langley said: “This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the very sad death of a railway worker. Our deepest condolences are with the man’s family who are being supported by specially trained officers.
